Annual Leave Rules (2018 Korean Labor Standards Act)
Under 1 Year of Service
Employees earn 1 day of paid leave for each month of perfect attendance, up to a maximum of 11 days. Under the 2018 revision, these are not deducted from the 15 days earned in the second year.
1+ Years of Service
Employees who have worked at least 80% of the year are entitled to 15 days of paid leave.
3+ Years of Service
Starting from the 3rd year, 1 additional day is granted every 2 years. That means 16 days in year 3, 17 days in year 5, 18 days in year 7, and so on — capped at 25 days maximum.
Formula
15 + floor((years of service - 1) / 2), capped at 25 days.

FAQ
Are first-year monthly leave days deducted from second-year entitlement?

Does unused leave carry over?
Under the Labor Standards Act, annual leave must be used within one year of accrual. Unused leave can be compensated as pay. Some companies may allow carryover per internal policy.
What is the maximum number of annual leave days?
The statutory maximum is 25 days, reached at 21+ years of service.
What happens to unused leave when I resign?
You can claim compensation for unused annual leave based on your ordinary or average wage.
