Counting criteria
With Spaces — Total characters including spaces, line breaks, and tabs.
Without Spaces — Pure character count after removing all whitespace.
Korean Syllables — Only complete Korean syllables in the U+AC00–U+D7A3 range. Incomplete jamo (e.g. ㅋㅋ, ㅎㅎ) are excluded.
Words — Number of words separated by whitespace.
Bytes — Size in UTF-8 encoding. Korean characters use 3 bytes each; ASCII characters use 1 byte.
Whether you're writing a blog title, an SNS post, or a cover letter, you'll often need to check "how many characters is this?" A trickier question is whether to include incomplete Korean jamo like 'ㅋㅋㅋ' or 'ㅜㅜ' in the character count. This tool calculates character counts with and without spaces in real time as you type, and automatically filters out incomplete Korean jamo.
Key Features
Real-Time Character Counting
Character counts update instantly as you type or paste text. No need to click a "calculate" button — numbers update with every keystroke so your writing flow stays uninterrupted.
With Spaces / Without Spaces
- With Spaces — Total length including spaces and line breaks
- Without Spaces — Pure character count only
Both are shown simultaneously, so you won't get confused when different platforms have different character limit criteria.
Incomplete Korean Jamo Auto-Filter
Single consonants and vowels like 'ㅎㅎㅎ', 'ㅋㅋ', 'ㅜㅜ' are not complete characters. This tool uses the Unicode range (U+AC00–U+D7A3) to separately count only fully composed Korean syllables.
Word Count and Byte Count
In addition to character counts, word count (space-separated) and byte count (UTF-8) are provided. These are useful auxiliary metrics for server size limits or English text work.
